Today’s topic is creating community. I want to tell you about an amazing coach I have met during the 2012 BizRichment™ International Coach Academy (ICA) Alumni Telesummit.
Before I introduce you to her, let me tell you a little about where I met her.
In 2011, I was on Facebook writing my usual informational update about one of our teleclasses. Up popped the little message box for a chat. A woman by the name of Julie wanted to ask me some questions about where I went to school. Julie was thinking about becoming a coach. I told her about ICA and told her why I thought it was one of the top coaching schools around.
It’s a year later, and she’s about to graduate. So now let me introduce you to what I can only describe as the Amazing and Inspiring Julie Fowler.
Why is Julie Amazing, it is because she has a house full of people she supports emotionally, and through her support they gain momentum and keep their spirits high. Then she further expands herself by creating several online support groups through her social media site. Inspiring because she lives with a disorder that for some is crippling called ADHD. She has turned her weakness into a wonderful adventure for others who need her support. Julie has created her entire practice as a life coach in helping others understand how ADD & ADHD can be managed. Her solution oriented mind-set allows her to coach others through what could be a life stopping condition. But Julie took matters into her own hands and has created a community of support for those who need it. She is amazing at rallying the troops, so to speak to assist others when things are looking down to move them into action of creation! She also saw the need in her community of coaches from ICA and realized they too could use a little tender loving care… her specialty.
This is what she had to say; “I recognized a need within my community of life coaches, to have a place to gather together in order to share information, support, resources, and simply to reach out and make connections. With this in mind, I created a Facebook group specifically for my coaching network.
Among the many topics shared within the group are: How to Develop Your Business, Different Types of Programs Offered, Brainstorming, Various types of surveys for personal information and development, Blogging Support, Technical Support, Numerous Educational Resources, Mastermind Subgroups, and a Teleclass Training Group. New ideas and opportunities are posted everyday and shared by the group. The teamwork and supporting of one another and establishing a united front for the greater good of all, is one of my main objectives for the group. Many members have found others with similar interests and lifestyles and unexpected commonalities.
Because it is a closed group creating a safe environment, members have shared some personal stories and occasionally a frustration or two, which is met with encouragement by the other members providing positive, forward moving, supportive and informative feedback.
I believe the diversity of the group, with the aligning ourselves across the globe with many different nationalities, cultures, languages, and lifestyles has been and will continue to be an enriching experience.”
People in the group really appreciate that support, as one Renee Vos de Wael explains; “Julie Pledger Fowler is very connected with what is needed in your environment… She got a big group motivated to take action and responsibility. She has created a safe and kind place, where all can come to together.” You can read what others had to say here.
Julie would like me to add that the richness of the community is because of its members. It is her view that she doesn’t want anyone to see her as a hero. News for you Julie, as one member put it; the group support moves me to tears. It sometimes is the only place we can turn when we are feeling all alone and do not know how we’re going to keep moving forward in our own struggles. The group lends that extra needed boost of light and perspective that can change our whole day into something to smile about. It makes a difference to have people who can share your laughter, fears, and hold you as capable.
Julie recently overcame her fear of speaking to the public in a live format. Come listen to what she had to say on the fabulous BlogTalkRadio show Coaches Corner ,where she was interviewed by the Voice of Coaches Corner, Andrew Poretz.
